Weekly Update (Apr 28) - E-Dragons

Town Hall Level 12 - Week 15

Trophies : 3,390 (+144)  (Champions League III)

Here's the latest update after the fifteenth week following the TH12 upgrade.  Another advance in trophies this week but the attacks are getting harder at this level and I suffered a few 3* defeats.  It's interesting to see how the attack strategies change as you move up the levels.

There are still 6 archer towers, 6 cannons and 3 mortars to upgrade but we are edging ever close to a TH13 upgrade.  I'm putting more emphasis on the hero upgrades at this point as I want them to be maxed out before the move to TH13

Here's what the base looks like right now.

Current Upgrades in Progress

Archer Tower - Level 16

Grand Warden - Level 26

Hidden Tesla - Level 10

Mortar - Level 12

Inferno Tower - Level 5

Cannon - Level 17

Hero Levels

Archer Queen - Level 55 (+2)

Grand Warden - Level 25 (+1)

Barbarian King - Level 50

Wall Upgrades Remaining - 216 (-11)

I'm starting to push the hero upgrades with 3 level ups this week.  There have been 4 3* attacks on the base since the last update.  Most have been a variation on the Golem / Witch attack that I started to see on my base a couple of weeks ago. I've tried to replicate this but it requires at least a level 9 golem and I'm not quite there yet.

As I'm using yetis in the siege machine (Battle Blimp) I decided to upgrade that troop next.  It's still got a couple of days to finish and then I'll push on with the Golems.

Builder Base

Trophies :  3,350 (+170)

The trap upgrades are reaching the end of the line with just 4 push traps requiring two upgrades each to max them out.  The hog gliders are now at level 9 and waiting on more elixir before moving them to level 10.  They have started to be useful as part of the attack with some bases.

The new attack setup is 1 hog glider (9), 2 baby dragon (18) and 3 cannon cart (18) plus the Battle Machine (30).  This has helped push the trophy amount up to 3,350.

Tip of the Week

Let's continue our look at troop upgrades for TH12.  We now have nine troops prioritized for upgrade at TH12 based on the value that each upgrade represents.  Let's add a tenth to the mix and review the E-Dragon!

At TH12, the e-dragon can be upgraded from Level 2 to 3.  The improvement in stats is shown below:

Damage Per Second (DPS) : 270 + 30 = 300

Hit points (HP)  3,700 + 500 = 4,200

The total upgrade value points or UVP (increase in DPS + increase HP) = (30 + 500) = 530

This upgrade costs 7,700,000 Elixir or 60,185 per upgrade value point

So where do e-drags fit into the upgrade list?

1.) Dragon              13K / UVP
2.) E-Dragon          14K / UVP
3.) Giant                 24K / UVP
4.) PEKKA             39K / UVP
5.) Loons.               41K / UVP
6.) Baby Dragon    57K / UVP
7.) Miners              62K / UVP
8.) Wizard              185K / UVP
9.) Barb                  193K / UVP
10.) Archer             900K / UVP

Straight in at #2 and close in value to the regular dragons.  Remember, e-drags do damage to multiple targets when they attack and their health can be boosted with the use of the grand warden in air mode.  This is why you see so many zap - drag / edrag attacks at this TH level.  Make sure you upgrade these early once you've got to TH12.

That leaves us with just one regular troop to review at TH12 - The Yeti!  After that, we'll take a look at the Dark Elixir Troops

Until then

Weekly Update (Apr 21st) - The Champions League!

Town Hall Level 12 - Week 14

Trophies : 3,246 (+210)  (Champions League III)

Here's the latest update after the fourteenth week following the TH12 upgrade.  With the defense continuing to look strong, I have started a bit of a trophy push and am now attacking four times a day.  This has lead to a move into the Champions League.  As a result, I earned 2,000 gems! This is really going to help the hero upgrades that need to take place over the coming weeks.

The end is in sight for maxing TH12.  There's still a bit of work to do with the archer towers and cannons but then it's just the traps and the walls.  That might require a bit of farming to limit the time spend at this level.

Here's what the base looks like right now.

Current Upgrades in Progress

Hidden Tesla - Level 10

Mortar - Level 11

Archer Tower - Level 16

Cannon - Level 16

Grand Warden - Level 25

Town Hall Giga Tesla - Level 5

Hero Levels

Archer Queen - Level 53

Grand Warden - Level 24 (+1)

Barbarian King - Level 50

Wall Upgrades Remaining - 227 (-8)

The Grand Warden was upgraded again this week and is on the way to Level 25.

There were no 3* attacks on the base this week which has helped the trophy position.  I'm trying to balance the upgrades so that I don't have two of the same type taking place at once.

The Lava Hound upgrade is almost complete and I have maxed the Dark Elixir storages so a Golem upgrade might be on the cards next.

Builder Base

Trophies :  3,180 (-56)

Upgrades continue on the traps and mines so it's slow progress at the moment.  The hog gliders are on the way to level 9 so we'll see if they can help in the attacks at that level.  I expect that they will need to be at least level 12 before they improve the attack.

Tip of the Week

Let's continue our look at troop upgrades for TH12.  We now have eight troops prioritized for upgrade at TH12 based on the value that each upgrade represents.  Let's add an ninth to the mix and review the Miners

At TH12, the Miners can be upgraded from Level 5 to 6.  The improvement in stats is shown below:

Damage Per Second (DPS) : 112 + 8 = 120

Hit points (HP)  800 + 100 = 900

The total upgrade value points or UVP (increase in DPS + increase HP) = (8 + 100) = 108

This upgrade costs 6,500,000 Elixir or 60,185 per upgrade value point

So where do Miners fit into the upgrade list?

1.) Dragon              13K / UVP
2.) Giant                 24K / UVP
3.) PEKKA             39K / UVP
4.) Loons.               41K / UVP
5.) Baby Dragon    57K / UVP
6.) Miners              62K / UVP
7.) Wizard              185K / UVP
8.) Barb                  193K / UVP
9.) Archer               900K / UVP

So another average return for your Elixir here.  Remember that miners only take damage when they are above ground and they are not restricted by walls so they do have their uses.  However, in terms of upgrade priority, I'd do the others on the list first.

Next week we'll take a look at the classic TH12 attack standard - the E-Dragon.

Until then

Weekly Update (Apr 14th) Hero Upgrades and Baby Dragons at TH12

Town Hall Level 12 - Week 13

Trophies : 3,056 (+100)  (Master League I)

Here's the latest update after the thirteenth week following the TH12 upgrade.  With all the Elixir based building upgrades completed, there is pressure on gold resources right now.  I had rune of gold that I used this week and I think I should be through the worst of it now.  The defense still looks strong and another triple digit gain this week on trophies puts me in Master League I.

Here's what the base looks like right now.

Current Upgrades in Progress

Town Hall Mega Tesla - Level 3

Hidden Tesla - Level 10

Wizard Tower - Level 11

Grand Warden - Level 24

Hidden Tesla - Level 10

Mortar - Level 11

Hero Levels

Archer Queen - Level 53 (+1)

Grand Warden - Level 23 (+1)

Barbarian King - Level 50

Wall Upgrades Remaining - 235

The Grand Warden was upgraded again this week and is on the way to Level 24.  I got the 165 medals I needed from Clan War Leagues so the Queen was upgraded as well.

There was one 3* attack on the base this week and it was not e-drags for a change.  It was a go-witch attack so I'll need to review and see if there is a way to stop it.   The zap-edrag attack is still working well, even with the Warden down for the upgrade.

The Head Hunter upgrade is complete on the troop side so I'm now upgrading the lava hounds.

Builder Base

Trophies :  3,236 (-45)

There have been several smaller upgrades to traps etc on the builder base.  Some of the upgrades have take a couple of days and that impacts the trophy count while they are down.  The hog gliders have been upgraded a few times and are now on their way to level 7.  They are still too low a level to be much use for now.

Tip of the Week

Let's continue our look at troop upgrades for TH12.  We now have seven troops prioritized for upgrade at TH12 based on the value that each upgrade represents.  Let's add an eigth to the mix and review the Baby Dragons

At TH12, the Baby Dragon can be upgraded from Level 5 to 6.  The improvement in stats is shown below:

Damage Per Second (DPS) : 115 + 10 = 125

Hit points (HP)  1600 + 100 = 1,700

The total upgrade value points or UVP (increase in DPS + increase HP) = (10 + 100) = 110

This upgrade costs 6,300,000 Elixir or 57,272 per upgrade value point

So where do Baby Dragons fit into the upgrade list?

1.) Dragon              13K / UVP
2.) Giant                 24K / UVP
3.) PEKKA             39K / UVP
4.) Loons.               41K / UVP
5.) Baby Dragon    57K / UVP
6.) Wizard              185K / UVP
7.) Barb                  193K / UVP
8.) Archer               900K / UVP

So an average return for your investment.  Make sure to upgrade the other troops above the number 5 slot before upgrading the baby dragons.

Next week we'll take a look at the miners - a personal favorite of mine from TH11.  Let's see if they can do the same damage at TH12 with an upgrade.

Weekly Update (Apr 7th) More Builder Base News & The Dark Ages Warden Challenge!

Town Hall Level 12 - Week 12

Trophies : 2,956 (+175)  (Master League II)

Here's the latest update after the twelfth week following the TH12 upgrade.  All the Elixir based building upgrades are now complete so "just" the walls and the Grand Warden to go on that side of things.  I think I've turned a corner, with my defense now looking quite strong and my troops also looking pretty good.  I've started to move up the trophy league again and I'm very close to Master League I at this point.

Here's what the base looks like right now.

Current Upgrades in Progress

Elixir Storage - Level 13

Gold Storage (x2)  - Level 13

Wizard Tower - Level 11

Hidden Tesla - Level 10

Bomb Tower - Level 7

Hero Levels

Archer Queen - Level 52

Grand Warden - Level 22 (+1)

Barbarian King - Level 50

The Grand Warden was upgraded to level 22 this week.  I've made a good start to the Clan War Leagues with 9*s from the first 3 matches. I need at least 165 medals for a Hammer of Heroes so I'm hoping for similar results moving forward.

There were no 3* attacks on the base this week!  The best was a 75% 2* attack but most have been in the mid 60s.  This, combined with new level 3 e-drags in my attack has resulted in the extra 175 trophies this week.  I've also changed my siege machine attack to a battle blimp with 2 yetis and a rage spell.  This seems to work really well.

Now that the e-drags are completed, I'm upgrading the Head Hunter to Level 2.

Builder Base

Trophies : 3281 (+207)

The Roaster upgrade is complete and the Baby Dragons are now Level 18.  This has meant a good uptick in the trophies this week.  I've been keeping the upgrades to those that will complete in 8 hours or less (mostly traps and bombs).  This way I can complete them over night and I've ignored these defenses for a while so they need some catch up.

On the troop side, I'm now focused on the hog gliders that I unlocked recently.  They are heading for Level 3.

Builder Base News

There was more details released this week about how the attacks will work in the new Builder Base 2.0 Release.  Builder Base will now work like a mini Clan Capital with two stages to each builder base.  The second stage will come once you upgrade beyond Builder base 5.

You will need to 3* the first stage of the base to attack the second stage where another 3*s will be on offer.  It also look likes the troops can be upgraded to level 20 and the Battle Machine can now go to Level 35.

Dark Ages Warden Challenge.

There are a couple of days left on this challenge so if you want to try it over the weekend, here are the step by step instructions you need.

1.) Deploy 2 Valkyries to the bottom left corner.  One to take the builder huts along the bottom and one to take the huts up the left side.

2.) Deploy another Valkyrie outside the wall by the Clan Castle.

3.) Deploy the Grand Warden on the statue in the top left corner with one healer for support.

4.) Once the inferno tower goes down, use the retrieve spell on the Warden.

5.) Deploy an Ice Golem in the bottom right corner by the statue.  Deploy the Warden behind the golem and use a clone spell on the healer.

6.) Once the Scattershot is down, retrieve the Warden again.

7.) Deploy the remaining troops in the bottom right corner with the Warden at the back.

8.) Use the remaining clone spells on the witches, valkyries etc.

Tip of the Week

Let's continue our look at troop upgrades for TH12.  We now have six troops prioritized for upgrade at TH12 based on the value that each upgrade represents.  Let's add a seventh to the mix and review the PEKKA.

At TH12, the PEKKA can be upgraded from Level 7 to 8.  The improvement in stats is shown below:

Damage Per Second (DPS) : 540 + 70 = 610

Hit points (HP) : 972 + 126 = 1,098

The total upgrade value points or UVP (increase in DPS + increase HP) = (70 + 126) = 196

This upgrade costs 7,700,000 Elixir or 39,285 per upgrade value point

So where do PEKKAs fit into the upgrade list?

1.) Dragon  13K / UVP
2.) Giant     24K / UVP
3.) PEKKA 39K / UVP
4.) Loons.   41K / UVP
5.) Wizard  185K / UVP
6.) Barb      193K / UVP
7.) Archer   900K / UVP

So not bad value but schedule them after the Dragon and the Giants at TH12.

Next week we'll do a review of the Baby Dragon and see if he can knock the Dragon off the number 1 spot.

Until then
